Reminiscing...

I don’t know why but when I’m in the shower, I love to reminisce. One second, I’m adjusting the water temperature and the next second, I’m having flashback to times past.  Let me share this one hilarious story I tell people.

Reminiscing

When I was in college, I was quite popular with the boys, looking back, I think it was because I was very very extroverted. Growing up a tomboy, I felt more comfortable with guys but when I became more “feminine”..*wink* wink*, I still remained more interested in guy friends than female friends.  Well, the only problem with having 10 guy friends to every female friend, there’s bound to be some emotional entanglement from time to time.  You know, boy likes me but I don’t like him…me liking boys but the feeling not being mutual. Well this is a story about a guy who liked me…

Friends silhouetted

There was this super nice guy… super nice…let’s call him Kayode. Kayode was a great friend and I truly loved being around him. I could sit with him for hours in the library just chilling and laughing up a storm. He was older, maturer and just an over all nice guy.  Well, we had been friends for about 1 yrs when he told me “ Inthe… we need to talk”. So I was like “ Ok, whats up” and homeboy just looked into my eyes and “Come on, you know, we need to talk”.  To cut a long story short, Kayode couldn’t voice his intentions to me (he wanted to be a couple) but he sent his best friend to tell me ( which i thought was cute, i like shy guys…lol). Every time I saw him, he would basically  repeat his intentions and I told him I wasn’t ready to be in a relationship.  Now after 1.5yrs of being friends, it started getting crazy. He had basically spread the word through the 9ja community on campus that I was off limits because he was interested and I never knew the extent of the craziness to one weird night.

Love in the Library

It was finals time. I had a late class and was just getting done about 10.30 pm. A guy friend had walked me to the library because it was raining and we were waiting till it calmed down a bit before I drove home. So I’m in the library chilling with my classmate and who pops in? Well, its Kayode...at ummmh, 10.30pm...lol, ok!  So me, my classmate and Kayode stand in  the doorway just talking and watching for the rain to calm down. Classmate being a gentleman didn’t want to leave me alone this late at night and I appreciated. So rain dies down and classmates offers to talk me to the car, the second he lifts his umbrella over my head, Kayode just screams “ Put that umbrella down, she doesn’t need your umbrella, she will use mine” Now picture a quiet library, its late at night, raining and this dude is yelling out of the blue…..it was super scary. I had never seen kayode angry and even classmate was scared because he immediately dropped the umbrella. By that time, I was like…. forget this, I’m gone.  I open the door and just start running to my car. The goal was to just get out of there and squash any chances for drama.

 232/365 Run For It

As I’m running blindly in the dark, in the rain to my car, what do I hear?  “ Inthe…” “Inthe…” I look behind and Kayode is chasing me in the rain....with no umbrella!!! That got me so panicked, I started running faster and guess what? Homeboy did too. I got to my car, struggled with my keys and just as I put on the car to speed out of the place, the passenger door opens and kayode jumps in. He wet, panting heavily and I’m beyond shocked! We are both sitting in the car, out of breath staring each other with my car blasting a Boyz II Men song ( my stereo comes on as soon as I turn on the engine). I was wondering, what he was going to do? Hit me? drag me out the car? or even rape me? We were alone in a dark parking lot and he had just chased me  in the dark after hysterically screaming at my friend.  Kayode looks at me, looks at my stereo, smiles and says “ Oh is that Boyz II Men?” I quietly nod my head yes.  He then smiles and says “ Ohh ok… Well have a great night” then gets out of my car. Hmm, before he had even closed the door, I had put the car in gear and zoomed off. Talk about crazy!!!

The next day, he pretended like it never happened and we never discussed that night again. The story doesn’t end there, he  gave me a lot of drama but here’s where I’ll stop... Hope you enjoyed walking down memory lane with me. LOL!

Lol. This is one of the most funniest boy-girl incidents I've ever read. Ha ha ha. "oh, this is Boys II Men?" lol! I went to an all-girls school & it was after graduation that I found out guys were cooler than girls as mere friends (*tongue in cheek*) But seriously though, they ate easier to talk to. But as I'm thinking boy A is just a friend, he's there catching feelings. That's how it always went. In my head, boys and girls can still be tight friends...however certain people have 'preached' to me that this theory is not possible. He he.
