Matt 25 vs 19-21: After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things...
In my last post, I mentioned my struggles "waiting" on God. I wanted to hit the ground running serving God but was very resistant to the idea of being prepared for it. Fast forward some years and I now realize the gift God gave me in those years I spent waiting. In those years, I was developed into a person who went from just knowing of him to someone who truly knew him; in those years i went from a little girl with the dream of becoming a doctor to a woman who was a doctor. Daily, I am put in the paths of people who hurt and I have been given the priveledge of being looked up to for answers. Looking back, that time developed me and turned me into the person I was meant to be.
....But…. There’s something missing.
I look around me and see people who have the option of choosing what doctor they go to. In the US, you pick a doctor the way you pick toppings for your pizza...With ease. What about those who can barely afford to eat let alone pay to see a doctor? What about places where children are still dying from ridiculous diseases such as diarrhea; a thing that is practically unheard of in the Western World. What about women who have absolutely no knowledge of their bodies and couldn't do a breast exam to save their lives?
Those are the people I think of....those are the people I
Ladies and Gentlemen.... In about a month from now, my family and I will be moving to another state in order for me to further my medical training by doing a fellowship. (A post-residency training period of 1–2 yrs in a subspecialty–eg, hand surgery, which allows a specialized physician to develop a particular expertise...(Dictionary) ). This fellowship will give me further specialty training on how to provide care in order to do International medical missions.
Because my dream focus for right now is Nigeria; I have hooked up with a Christian medical missions program based here in the US that goes to Nigeria yearly. I am super excited because I can add my 3 passions ( medicine, travel and the gospel) into one thing. *Doing the running man* I see God's finger prints all over this. Can you believe that there are only 3 places in the whole country that offers this fellowship and I got accepted? The hubster has been beyond supportive and is willing to move his whole life to follow me to another state where we both dont know a single soul... talk about "two shall become one..."
Matt 25 vs 29: For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
We are ALL blessed with talents... Maybe you are a singer, a writer, a great cook, an encourager, can do calculus in your brain, a natural leader or an encourager. My question for you is what are you doing with these gifts? Are you like the servant with the 5 talents who invested his talents to the betterment of his master or are you like the servant who buried his and had no fruit to show for it? At the end, the scrap of a talent he had was even taken away from him and given to the servant who had a surplus. Are you being invested, using what you have to bring about change for the kingdom of God?
If truth be told many of us are like the last servant. I remember spending years whining about not being able to sing like the hubster while completely leaving my own gift of writing dormant and unused. I tell you this today, God gives all according to their capabilities, he has absolutely NO reason to bless you with more if you are not properly using what you already have. Every talent, every quality, every possesion, everything we have is a seed that should be planted to bear fruit for God's kingdom. God isn't an ower, as you bless with it with your gifts, it will bless you right back!
